Julie DX SAA 02/2001 Cytoxan/NIH

My name is Jim Maddern, My wife,Julie was diagnosed with SSA/PNH in Feb, 2001.  we have seen many specialests in Minnesota, where we are from.  These Dr's came to the conclusion that a BMT was the only possibility of a cure for my wife.  We began our research on the internet and found a small article from Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. They have been treating patients with a hi-dose chemotherapy, with no introduction from other stem cells(no BMT).

On July 5, Julie and I began this treatment in Baltimore.  The survival odds of this treatment are about 8out10 for survival!  I am typing to you from Julie's room, where we have been for 68 days. Her prognosis is good. We could be home in MN within 2 weeks.

I just felt that others may want to research this treatment.  I recall my feelings when she was diagnosed and wished for something like this chance for a cure, with better odds than a BMT.
