I saw this the other day. It was posted on the PN website. They also reference another artilce about the real efficacy of drugs. It's more like drug only work 50% of the time. So if you have a reaction or it's not working ....you need to push your dr to try something else.
It's all pretty scary when you think about. It's sad that something that starts out to be well intended is abused. You see this in every industry...not just the drug/medical industry.
I have a PDF document you might want to see. It's titled the Other drug problem... They state that $7.9B was spent on suppling Dr's with free samples. More dollars are spent on marketing and admin cost than on research and development. They also dispell the myth of what drug companies claim to be the "cost" of developing drugs.
