Flu or cold - what did you do?

Has anyone gotten the flu or a cold while in recovery? My husbands WBC holds between 1.1 and 1.4 these days with an anc btwn .9 and 1.2. He made it last year without getting the flu or a cold, but this season seems to be plagued with more germs. I've come down with a cold and have been wearing a mask and am concerned that he'll catch it. So the question is....what did you do if anything to keep it in check. There are two drugs that I know about that you can take if you get the flu. They are Tamiflu and Symmertil (sp). Side effects on Tamiflu look scary. Has anyone had any experience with these?
