Hello Everyone......I don't mean to be too critical here, but just wanted to share my disappointment in the story tonight on CNN about Capt. Al Hayne's daughter Laurie who has aplastic anemia. (www.friendsforlauri.com) He is somewhat of a hero and is using his notoriety to help raise money for his grown daughter's upcoming transplant. Although I understand very much their desire to save her life, I was so disappointed that the interview, which was actually quite lengthy, missed the opportunity to spread awareness about aplastic anemia. It barely mentioned anything about it. The story also failed to mention much (if anything) about the NMDP or about the importance of donating blood/platelets or of becoming a bone marrow/stem cell donor to help others in need. It simply focused on asking people for money to save this woman's life. Again, I understand the love one has for a family member and ones desire to save that person's life, but I was so saddened that an opportunity was missed to spread awareness about aplastic anemia, bone marrow diseases, and about blood/platelet/bone marrow donorship. Anyone else see the story? Susie, 37 SAA
