Yesterdays numbers were: Hgb at 7.2, WBC at 2.1 with 900 neutrophils and his platelets jumped 5000 in a week from 16,000 to 21,000. Is it normal for the neutrophils to fluctuate this much??? I am not overly concerned, but just feel a lot better knowing he has 1600 vs. 900. We are going to hold off on any dental work until his numbers come up a bit. I am so glad we have that option since he is not experiencing pain or bleeding. His Dr. is considering putting him on male hormones to boost his red cell count. He has seen some patients have great success with this (not AA patients though). He told us about one case where a womans Hgb jumped from 3.5 to above 25 from the hormones. He had to start taking blood and reduce her meds from 21 pills a week to just 2 a week....now she is doing great. Again, its not the same situation but offers hope. He wants us to see what the U of C Dr. thinks about the male hormones before we start them so I will contact him today. Future still looks good..........Laura
