If I understand your post correctly, your brother gets his counts checked 3 times per week but does not see a doctor each time and will not see one until 11/10, then it sounds like he's being monitored very closely. If there's a problem, they usually call the doctor right away. We had transfusion theshholds established...If John'g HGB was less than 8, he was to get red cells. If his platelet were 8K, he got platelets. Is he keeping track of his counts? If he starts to feel bad or has some bleeding, then he should call the doctor even though he doesn't have an appointment. This is a scary disease and it takes time to see how well you tolerate low blood counts. There is a learning curve. You do learn how to deal with all if it and even at some point start to relax. I worried enough for the both of us. John was much more calm about his treatment and recovery than I was. Hope this helps....Marlene
