thanks, your replies are appreciated becca and lisa! no, i don't go to my brother's appts with him, just hear the feedback from my sister in law and my 82 year old mother! thus the reason i don't get details, exact rx names, dosages, etc. i'd guess that my brother asks questions but possibly not ones that he fears answers to. he is fearful of getting sick, as he understands the reality of the seriousness there. i do know that he started his treatment with the horse serum. his home health care consists of a variety of rx, which i only know of the cyclosporine, and he was recently taken off of shots (of what, i don't know) and his cyclosporine has been adjusted several times. he received 2 units of blood on 11/24, which is the first transfusion since 10/15. he has had red and platelet about every 5-7 days. he's recently had nose bleeds with minimal bleeding, but they are finding that this happens to him just before he needs platelets. you mention getting out and about - how safe is that for him? he's housebound, wears a mask when going to and from the doc, and occassionally gets outside. his doc didn't encourage exercise, which i thought was interesting, but i didn't hear the reason. you asked about our family - parents are 82 and 86, and i have 2 other brothers. my brother with saa has 3 grown married children who all have small children. a very good support system. i live 5 driving hours away. the least i can do is some research and hope to find information that will ease his panic and fears. is there anything else that you would recommend or suggest that i might offer to help them cope? jerilue
